Factors associated with the educational climate from the perception of students who leave the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica

The factors associated with the educational climate of the National University of Costa Rica from the perception of the students who left the institution during the period 2017-2020 was explored. A quantitative approach of a non-experimental and correlational exploratory type was used, which, based on the application of an exploratory factor analysis, allowed us to identify that the variables related to the educational climate, before leaving the university, are grouped into five factors: curricular organization (methodology of the courses, expectations of the career, teachers who teach the courses), student commitment (class attendance, degree of completion of the assigned subjects, attendance at office hours), material conditions for the study (state of the electronic device, Internet connection, physical space for academic work), interaction in the university context (services provided by the university, relationship with administrative staff and start of classes), and educational interaction (interaction with classmates and teachers). From the study it is derived that the educational climate is a multidimensional construct that the exploratory factor analysis subdivided into five factors that can be the basis for taking decisions to improve academic interactions and the conditions of the student permanence.
