Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors that impact the intention of social entrepreneurship in students at public universities in Mexico’s Northeastern border area. The study phenomenon was approached from a causal quantitative approach, gathering information through the application of the Intention of Social Entrepreneurship survey composed of 30 items. Among the main findings, it was found that moral obligation and corporate social self-efficiency affect entrepreneurial social intention positively and significantly. On the other hand, empathy and perceived social support do not show statistical significance, evidence of little relevance in the sample. This study shows the elements which higher education institutions must develop to promote the training of social entrepreneurs who help to serve marginalized sectors.
