Resumen
Este estudio examinó relaciones entre la autoeficacia, impulsividad, neuroticismo, extraversión, apertura e identidad institucional con el rendimiento académico en una muestra de 725 estudiantes de bachillerato del Instituto Politécnico Nacional en la Ciudad de México. Se especificó un análisis de senderos utilizando el neuroticismo, la extraversión, la apertura, la impulsividad y la autoeficacia como variables exógenas que presentan efectos directos sobre la identidad institucional y el promedio académico. También se probó el efecto mediador de la identidad institucional sobre el promedio académico para cada una de las variables exógenas. Nuestros resultados indicaron que los comportamientos de los participantes no pueden ser completamente explicados sin analizar los aspectos sociales en una institución. La identidad institucional provee un efecto aditivo sobre el promedio académico cuando media la autoeficacia y el neuroticismo, mientras que logra rectificar el efecto directo y detrimental de la extraversión sobre el promedio académico. Esta investigación expuso que la identidad institucional es un mediador a través del sentido de pertenencia, orgullo y prestigio experimentados por los estudiantes que ofrece un soporte para orientar, reflexionar, resolver problemas, alcanzar sus metas y ayuda a la predicción del rendimiento académico.
