Abstract
The purpose of this research was to carry out an analysis of the emotional perception of the students Preschool and Elementary teaching of the Institución Benemérita y Centenaria Normal School of the State of Chihuahua through the Self-Reported Scale of Emotional Intelligence (SSEIT) that evaluates the various skills included in the emotional intelligence model of Mayer, Salovey and Caruso (2000). To achieve the objective a descriptive study was developed. 54 students from the third semester of the previously mentioned bachelor’s degrees were selected as participants in the research. The results were analyzed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program, which showed some significant correlations between different factors. From the previously shown results, it can be concluded that students present a good perception of their emotional abilities, except for emotional regulation in the aspect of 'controlling one's own emotions and those of others', even so, we present the proposal of implementation of emotional education and the development of emotional competencies in the initial teacher training.
