Abstract

The search process for this paper involved defining keywords and utilizing academic databases such as IEEE Xplore and Google Scholar. Studies published between 2010 and 2024 in English and Spanish were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, excluding opinion articles lacking empirical data. Titles and abstracts were reviewed to identify relevant studies, which were evaluated based on methods, results, and conclusions. The analysis organized the information into thematic categories, comparing findings to identify patterns and differences. A critical evaluation highlighted the strengths and limitations of the reviewed studies and proposed directions for future research. This article explores the intersection of ICT and AI in education, analyzing their impact on access to information, personalized learning, and the development of 21st-century skills. It also addresses challenges such as the digital divide and teacher training, presenting success stories like the virtual environments at Stanford University and the ‘Pounce’ AI system from Georgia State University. This analysis provides a framework for discussing the evolution of education in the digital era and suggests directions for future research.
