Resumen

Este artículo presenta un análisis bibliométrico centrado en la metodología Six Sigma, utilizando el motor de búsqueda de PubMed de Medline y el software Biblioshiny (RStudio) para explorar las publicaciones indexadas durante las últimas tres décadas. El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática de la literatura es identificar publicaciones sobresalientes, documentos y autores que traten abiertamente temas relacionados con Six Sigma. A pesar de haber identificado a autores influyentes, se observa una atención limitada por parte de la comunidad en este campo. Recientemente la comunidad de Six Sigma ha ampliado su enfoque hacia el ámbito de la atención médica, lo que marca un contraste con su histórica aplicación en la industria manufacturera y los servicios, que antes se trataban por separado. La pandemia de COVID-19 ha resaltado la intensa presión ejercida sobre la eficacia de los sistemas de atención médica. En respuesta, investigaciones recientes están impulsando el aprendizaje y la adopción de la metodología Six Sigma para garantizar la calidad en el ámbito de la atención médica. El aporte de este trabajo se considera una valiosa contribución al debate actual y al interés en el aprendizaje y aplicación de Six Sigma en el campo de la atención médica.
